The UX process is often complicated, involves multi-functional areas and time consuming. Hence we have listed below a list of mistakes one makes while designing a product.

User Experience Error

1. Typography:

Poor use of typography invariably ruins a good design. The fonts used should be legible, web friendly and should have correct line spacing. One should test how it appears on different devices like desktop, laptop, tablet and smartphones both under light and darkness. One can choose fonts from Google’s font

2. Too Much Text:

Too much text leaves a browser confused and uninterested in navigating further. One should aim for minimum text with relevant information without compromising the gist.

3. Design Heavy:

Some designers put excessive importance in designing leaving too many design elements on the site. However some places require simplicity like forms, tariffs etc.

4. Poor Contrast:

Website with poor contrast leaves a bad taste for the browser. Poor contrast with thin fonts even makes it worse. Hence designers should look to this aspect while designing, particularly those following modern minimalistic pattern.

5. Cluttered Layout:

Any design that appears cluttered sure to fail. Be it for web or any other media. Unclutter it at any cost to get the most out of it.

6. Slow Loading:

Websites that load faster are a delight. In contrast a slow loading site may fail even to register the click. You can check your speed of your Website here.

7. Ease of navigation:

If the navigation is confusing then browser will visit elsewhere. There should be clarity in it. Buttons should be in place where a visitor expects it to be.

8. Animation Heavy:

Any site with heavy dose of animation makes the user experience sour as first of all many don’t prefer animation and secondly many does not understand them.

9. Satisfying Yourselves:

Websites are designed for users you don’t even know. When you design it blindly gratifying only your own satisfaction then it becomes a problem. That is why user tasting and feedback is paramount. You can find a good example by looking this website design where they achieve a good User Experience.

10. Unintuitive Buttons:

Navigation takes place through buttons. Hence buttons that are too small, in the wrong place or difficult to locate because of color or contrast should be avoided.

11. User tasting:

Websites must be user tasted extensively before being thrown open to browsers. This process prevents a lot of UX issues. A designer can not determine it by himself the different usability.

12. Responsiveness:

Website must look the same across platforms and devices. If the website does not look the same in different devices then user may simply leave. It is important that all elements of a page must appear across all devices. Google has its own mobile friendly test tool. You can find that here.

13. Turning Blind to Feedback:

Any feedback is like gold dust. Since we are designing it for the users improvement will come only through listening to users and users only.

14. Designing Without Content:

Many design the pages putting LOREM IPSUM as content. Though it can be a reference point, it can no way replace the actual content and during putting the content there may arise unforeseen problem where one has to change the complete layout.

15. Bad Forms/forceful subscription:

Many websites use this tactics when landing on their pages where users are mandated to either subscribe or fill up the form. This is an extremely negative practice because of which browser stays away.

16. Review/Testimonials:

A good website always have scope for review or testimonials. However not having review page is considered negative.
